The RX7 was pretty dirty after this past weekend, so I set aside this evening to clean it .
I’ve been using Meguiar’s ultimate all-wheel cleaner. It works pretty well, weirdly turns purple, and smells pretty bad. Spray it on, wait a bit, agitate with a brush (optional, helps), pressure wash off.
Pre-rinsed the whole car with the pressure washer, then the soap foam gun thing came out and hid it under some suds.
While soaking, I went around the creases, seams, badges, etc. with a small brush to clean out those areas. Some were pretty dirty. In the interim I completely re-covered the car in soap three more times because that’s how much my gun holds.
Then pressure rinse and a normal 2-bucket wash.
Final “spot free” rinse from the wall-mounted filter and softener setup I have in the garage, then a towel dry.
Much better.
Tomorrow I’ll decide if I want to put another coat of wax on it, then aerospace 303 the appropriate surfaces. Don’t want to rush into that because there are few things as frustrating as finding drops of water while trying to wax a car...

Very nicely done.
When you went around with a brush, did you use a degreaser to help you along?
That wheel cleaner is a cleaner and brake dust remover in one , the purple is an indicator to show the brake dust has been dissolved. You can also use it on the paint to dissolve brake dust that’s been em bedded into the clearcote , before it starts to cause clearcote failure and blisters.

Thanks!
When I went around the the brush, the whole car was still covered in the soap/foam so I just used that. Worked pretty well; most of the dirt on the car hasn’t been there all that long so nothing was particularly grimy, just a few hundred miles and an autocross’ worth of dirt, dust, and bugs.
My only complaint about the wheel cleaner (good to know about
t
he purple!) is that it leaves marks on the tires - where it sits on the rubber ends up a bit grey, so you have weird splatter marks on the tires. A very small amount of dressing rubbed in with a rag makes it disappear, but it’s an unfortunately effect.

When clean the wheels, I spray trying to keep away from the tyre, it won’t do any damage but may cause streaking if left on for any length of time.
I first go for the inner edges (red) of the wheel,
Then the spokes (orange) from above and then try and spray up from as low as I can,
Then the wheel centre (yellow).
Then using a degreaser and a stiff nylon brush I spray the tyre surface and scrub with the brush. Then going back to the wheel I use a brush to go over anywhere the spray may of missed and get into the tight nooks and crannies to agitate any heavier build up, then thoroughly rinse.
